2. Alton Towers

The perfect destination for any young Bob the Builder enthusiasts, as well as anybody interested in getting behind some heavy machinery, Diggerland is a great choice for a day out. At the park, you’ll be given the chance to drive and operate real diggers in a safe and controlled setting.

4. Gulliver's Valley, Yorkshire

Looking for a day out that’s packed with adventure? Gulliver’s Valley in Yorkshire is just a short hop from Northern trains with buses running from both Sheffield and Rotherham stations. The family-run theme park opened its doors in 2020 and is designed for kids aged 2-13. Enjoy a variety of rides, shows and attractions, as well as play areas for the little ones.

Looking to get wet and wild no matter the weather? Then, take a trip into the country and experience what Delamere has to offer. With dense forests and plenty of lakes, Delamere is the perfect destination, even if the weather is poor.

6. Adventure Coast Southport

Opening times: 5th April – 14th Sept 2025

Formerly Southport Pleasureland, Adventure Coast Southport is split into four distinct areas: Viking Landing, Pirate Cove, Cartoon Boardwalk, and Steampunk Bay. There’s something for everyone here, with water-based fun in Viking Land, swinging ships in the Pirate Cove, Dodgems in Cartoon Boardwalk, and traditional coasters in Steampunk Bay.

The perfect family day out for LEGO fans, LEGOLAND Discovery is the ultimate indoor playground with interactive rides, play zone and LEGO models that bring imagination to life. 10. Monkey Forest, Trentham

Monkey Forest in Trentham is a unique outdoor attraction where you can wander through 60 acres of ancient woodland alongside free-roaming Barbary macaques! It’s a brilliant day out for families and nature lovers alike, offering a chance to get close to these fascinating monkeys in a safe and natural environment. Generally speaking, most theme parks open at a limited capacity from March and then fully for the summer months from May; most parks will then close for the winter, in October and November. It's best to check the official site of your chosen theme park to get exact times.
